Information For Authors

SOCRATES is the official publication of the "Dr. Abha Foundation," a public charitable trust in India dedicated to the development and betterment of vulnerable sections of society. This journal publishes innovative, responsive, and high-quality research papers. SOCRATES is a serious and scholarly publication that undergoes peer review and is indexed. We exclusively consider high-quality manuscripts for publication in this international journal. Our mission in introducing and establishing this journal is to inspire scholars who are willing to produce and publish quality research and engage in discussions about their original research, thoughts, and ideas.

Socrates Journal is open for paper submission. We accept paper submissions from these two disciplines authored in English:

  1. Public Administration
  2. Philosophy

Publication in our journal is completely free. We do not charge for article processing, review, or publication. Please note that SOCRATES is a hybrid open-access journal, which means we publish both subscription-based and open-access articles.

By default, all articles in the journal are published with subscription access, which means that a subscription is required to access these articles online. However, authors who wish to enjoy the benefits of open-access publication can opt to publish their articles as open-access by paying a nominal fee. Pre-Requirement:

To submit a paper to the Journal, membership in the Socrates Scholars International Research Network (SSIRN) is mandatory. If you are already a member of SSIRN.NET, please follow these four steps for online paper submission. If you are not a member yet, please sign up and then proceed with these steps:

Step 1: Prepare Your Manuscript

Please ensure that your manuscript adheres to the guidelines provided by the journal. Our review process is double-blinded, so all author(s) information and identifications should be removed from the manuscript. We recommend using our paper template to format your manuscript. You can download the recommended research paper format/template by clicking here.

For a detailed Submission Preparation Checklist and Author Guidelines, please visit: https://www.socratesjournal.com/index.php/SOCRATES/about/submissions

Step 2: Complete the Competing Interest Disclosure Form

The journal requires the corresponding or the first author to submit a Competing Interest (CI) statement with their manuscript. Please access the CI disclosure form by clicking here.

For more information about competing interests (CI), please visit the following link: https://www.socratesjournal.com/index.php/SOCRATES/competing-interest

Once you have completed the CI disclosure form, the journal will send a confirmation email to the corresponding or the first author. It is essential to reply to this email to confirm the accuracy of the provided information.

Step 3: Provide a Cover Letter to the Editor

After completing the first two steps, please click the following link to submit a cover letter to the Editor of the Journal: https://www.socratesjournal.com/index.php/SOCRATES/cover-letter-to-the-editor

The journal will send a confirmation email to the corresponding or the first author and all co-authors. To ensure the accuracy of the information provided, both the corresponding or the first author and all co-authors must reply to this validation email.

Step 4: Manuscript Submission

You are now in the final step of the submission process. To submit your article, you will need to register with the e-journal. If you are already registered, simply log in and begin the five-step workflow process.

ORCID provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes researchers published in SOCRATES from other researchers and, supports automated linkages between them and their professional activities ensuring that their work is recognized. Click here to register for an ORCID iD

Socrates Journal now requires that all corresponding authors identify themselves using their ORCID iD when submitting a manuscript to the journal. ORCID provides a unique identifier for researchers and, through integration in key research workflows such as manuscript submission and grant applications, provides the following benefits:

Discoverability: ORCID increases the discoverability of your publications, by enabling smarter publisher systems and by helping readers to reliably find work that you’ve authored.
Convenience: As more organisations use ORCID, providing your iD or using it to register for services will automatically link activities to your ORCID record, and will enable you to share this information with other systems and platforms you use, saving you re-keying information multiple times.
Keeping track: Your ORCID record is a neat place to store and (if you choose) share validated information about your research activities and affiliations.

If you don’t already have an ID, you’ll need to create one if you decide to submit a manuscript to Socrates Journal. You can register for one directly from your user account on Scholar One or via https://ORCID.org/register.

If you already have an ID, please use this when submitting, either by linking it to your Socrates Journal's account or supplying it during submission by using the “Associate your existing ORCID ID” button.
