Open Access Policy
SOCRATES is a hybrid open-access journal, meaning it publishes both subscription and open-access articles. Upon submission, authors are asked to select one of the following accessibility options:
- Publish the article as subscription access.
- Publish the article as open access.
If the author chooses to publish their article as open access, the following policy applies:
All open-access articles published in SOCRATES are freely available on our e-journal's website for reading, downloading, and sharing. Articles are published under a Creative Commons license, allowing for use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided proper citation of the original work is included.
Definition of Open Access:
According to the Bethesda Statement on Open Access Publishing an Open Access Publication meets the following two conditions:
- The author(s) and copyright holder(s) grant to all users a free, irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual right of access to, and a license to copy, use, distribute, transmit, and publicly display the work, as well as to create and distribute derivative works, in any digital medium for any responsible purpose, subject to proper attribution of authorship. Users also have the right to make a limited number of printed copies for personal use.
- A complete version of the work and all supplementary materials, along with a copy of the permission as stated above, in a suitable standard electronic format, must be deposited immediately upon initial publication in at least one online repository supported by an academic institution, scholarly society, government agency, or other well-established organization seeking to enable open access, unrestricted distribution, interoperability, and long-term archiving.
License on open access articles:
