Responsibilities of an Editor

Editorial Team Members should be well-networked academics in the field of Public-Administration or Philosophy with previous experience of review. Free subscriptions and copies of the printed/e-Journal would be provided to every editorial team member.

The primary responsibility of the Editors:

  1. It is the primary responsibility of the editors to review the manuscript before sending it to reviewers by creating review rounds and submit their recommendation on the submission following the guidelines available on Journal’s website at: https://www.socratesjournal.com/index.php/SOCRATES/editorial_workflow
  2. To coordinate with the Editorial Office of the Journal.

Mandatory responsibilities of the Editors

It is mandatory for every Editorial Team Member:

  1. To use Socrates e-mail address assigned to them by the Journal for all the communications related to the Journal. Use of personal e-mail addresses is not be allowed in communications related to the Journal.
  2. To publish at least one special issue of the Journal under their sole editorship every year. Proposals for special issue must be submitted to the Editorial Office before March 1st of each year. Proposals sent after this date would not be accepted.
  3. To prepare a list of atleast 10 potential reviewers who are ready to review papers for the concerned editor. The fresh list of reviewers must be submitted to the editorial office before March 1st of every year.The prescribed academic qualification to be a reviewer is PHD or Doctoral degree in the respective filed.
  4. To publicize the journal, its call for papers, and other announcements through their social media networks and e-mail.
  5. To encourage their students and colleagues to submit papers to the Journal.
  6. To Recommend the Journal's subscription to their institution, colleagues and students, and in the conferences.
  7. To submit their updated profile/details to the Editorial Office through the prescribed datasheet before March 1st of every year to show their contribution to the Journal in a year. The Editorial Office will issue a "Certificate of contribution and experience" to the concerned editor on the basis of their contribution to the Journal. Inactive editorial team members or the members who did not contribute in the Journal in a year will be removed from the Editorial Team. The Editorial office of the Journal will provide all the support to their editorial team members for discharging their responsibilities and would be responsible for maintaining the records of every editor separately.

  9. To accomplish the assignments received from the Editorial Office from time to time.
  10. To guide the potential authors by answering their queries recieved through email and other communication channels.

Optional responsibilities of the Editors:

Every editor of the Journal can:

  1. Organize open webinar/online conference for the Journal on any specific topic. Proposals for which can be submitted to the Editorial Office by the concerned editor.
  2. Conduct video interviews of any renowned scholar/professor on any specific topic for the Journal. Proposals for which can be submitted to the Editorial Office by the concerned editor.
  3. Submit video reports to the Journal on any specific topic/issue. Video reports must be submitted to the Editorial Office by the concerned editor.

Please note:

  1. Every member of a particular Journal section in the Editorial Team will be known as “Editor” with equal authority and responsibility.
  2. It has been proposed that every editor of the Journal should be provided with one editorial assistant. In case the number of editorial assistants available to the journal is less than the total number of editors, editors can also appoint someone competent as their editorial assistant providing proper information to the Journal. The Certificate of contribution and experience would be provided to the Editorial Assistants by the Journal.
