Journal History

Major decisions for the transformation of the Journal have been taken: 28 July 2020

To make the journal much more focused and Subject-specific, we have transformed the Journal. Our previous Editorial policy was not sufficiently precise and specific, and the journal covered far too many topics. As most of the quality journals are devoted to specific fields, and our journal covered almost everything in the arts and humanities (and several social sciences), so we were bound to revise the policies. It was also not possible for us to get each and every paper reviewed within a specific time frame, which resulted in delays in publication.

To overcome these shortcomings major decisions for the transformation of the Journal have been taken.
SOCRATES is now an international, refereed (peer-reviewed) and indexed scholarly journal in Public Administration and Philosophy. This journal will appear half-yearly in English as usual.

Major decisions:

  1. The Journal has removed its Journal Section - English Language and Literature.
No papers would be accepted for review and publication from this Journal section.
  2. The Journal has transformed its Journal Section - Political Science into Public Administration.
  3. From now onwards the Journal will cover only two research domains:
    1. Public Administration
    2. Philosophy

SOCRATES ISSN 2347-6869 is now a Hybrid open access journal: May 14, 2020

We have been receiving requests from the authors and readers for a very long time to make the articles published in the journal SOCRATES more accessible. We were also impressed by the benefits of open access publication model. The greatest benefit of open access is that it enables the results of scholarly research to be disseminated more rapidly and widely. This motivated us to transform the Journal into a Hybrid open access journal.

SOCRATES is now a hybrid open-access journal, which means it will support both subscription and open access. At the time of publication the authors will have the choice to choose any of these two accessibility options:

  1. Publishing article as open access
  2. Publishing article as Subscription access

For more information about these accessibility options please visit this webpage on our e-Journal's website.

Through this transformation now, the new ideas can be dispersed more rapidly and widely, which in turn will trigger new research studies; it will also serve as an impetus for knowledge. Various Scientific researches also show that publishing in open access, because of the worldwide visibility without barriers, demonstrably leads to more citations and more impact. To comply with this transformation following web-pages of our e-journal's website have also been updated:

  1. Information For Authors
  2. Author Self Archiving Policy
  3. Cover letter to the Editor

This transformation will impact the newly submitted articles. Published authors of the Journal who wish to avail the option of open access publication accessibility can contact our Editorial Office via email at editorial_office@socratesjournal.com

Editorial Policies revised: June 04, 2019

The Journal has revised its publication frequency. From now onwards the Journal "SOCRATES" would be published "Half-Yearly" i.e. two issues per year, Month(s) of publication: June and December.

Previously the Journal was published "Quarterly" i.e. four issues per year, Month(s) of publication: March, June, September and December.

Editorial Policies revised: May 2, 2017

1. From now onwards the Journal will cover only three disciplines:

A. English literature

B. Philosophy

C. Political Science (including Public-Administration/Public-Management/Governance)

Reason for revision:

1. To make the journal much more focused and Subject-specific, sufficiently precise and more scientific, from now onwards the Journal will only accept and publish articles from three disciplines. Previously the Journal was also covering the discipline of Law.

We are looking forward to increasing international collaboration. We Invite leading scholars to contribute in this Journal by submitting their papers, cite articles and taking part in the editorial process by joining our editorial team. We also welcome each and every suggestion for improvement. Please feel free to write at editor@socratesjournal.com Or Text us on our Whats App Number +91-8009074196.
